• Lousã

  • Small town of Portugal Lousã, located about 25 km southeast of Coimbra

  • Lousã station has long been a very attractive picture for tourists with its historic loading crane on the abandoned loading track and the timber warehouse, which was probably built in the early 20th century. The barracks were demolished in 2008; Now there is a street in their place. The station decorated with tiles is still in operation.

  • In the village is the Ecomuseu da Serra da Lousã, a museum at the foot of the Iberian Mountains, the Serra da Lousã and their traditional “slate villages”. Some of them belong to the slate village route and have dark slate in common as their main building material. Extensive hiking trails have been created in the Serra, which rises to 1202 meters.

  • It is also worth visiting the various villas and the main church decorated with tiles (Igreja Matriz).
